Chef Meeran Manzoor Wins Silver At The Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Awards

Meeran Manzoor, Executive Head Chef of The Blue Haven Collection, took home silver in the Ireland’s Chef of The Year category at the Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Awards, with winners announced on Tuesday 31st January at the Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway.

Chef Meeran was delighted to win the accolade, saying “Recognitions like the Gold Medal Awards are of great motivation to us as a team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my local suppliers who give us great fresh seasonal produce to work with every week. Kinsale is truly special to be able to get such amazing ingredients around the restaurant locally.

Originally from Chennai in India, Meeran came to Ireland in 2018, continuing a career working in kitchens of high-end fine dining restaurants, including the Metropolitan Hotel Park Lane and 45 Park Lane at The Dorchester. From there he went to Florida and then onto Belgium where he worked in a number of award-winning establishments. Meeran took the Executive Head Chef position at The Blue Haven Collection in 2019.

Now in their 33rd year, the Gold Medal Awards, organised by Hotel & Catering Review Magazine, are known as the leading independent awards programme for the Irish hospitality industry. They aim to recognise and reward excellence in hospitality and catering operations across the island of Ireland. The judging process is carried out by a panel of respected industry experts from the hospitality, culinary and catering sectors, and is subject to benchmarking against a strict set of criteria with a blind site inspection conducted by the judging panel.
