Fig Rolls, Designer Hostels and Sourdough – The Top Food Trends to Try in 2013 by US Food and Wine

U.S. Food & Wine ‘Top Food Trends To Try in 2013’ proving Galway restaurants Aniar Restaurant and Eat Gastropub are ahead of their time. They already Sea Forage  for ingredients and use Slate for serving.

We’re all on for trying the ‘Mexican Converts’ food trend though,if you have not yet been to 777 on George Street it’s worth a visit. The margaritas are already legendary and the food is unforgettable.

If US Food and Wine Food people are to be believed 777 may have to find a new drinking buddy –  Margaritas are to be replaced by the Paloma cocktail.

Don’t dump the tequila just yet  though,  the piece also says ‘Fig Cookies’ are going to be big but those soft and sticky ‘cookies’ by Jacobs have been around for decades and hide at the back of every granny’s cupboard. Let’s pray they stay there and it’s figs that make a comeback and not the Fig Rolls. (How did they get the figs in there anyway?)

Coming up we’ll talk to Jp McMahon on what his thoughts are on Food Trends For Ireland for 2013.

For now, here’s the US Food and Wine full presentation:
