JP McMahon, owner of the Eat Galway restaurant group hosts a series of cookery classes and one day cooking workshops throughout the year in the Michelin Star Aniar Restaurant and Boutique Cookery School.

The classes will offer all food lovers the chance to learn, taste and enjoy local produce – and are designed to cater to everyone from novices to experienced cooks.

Small classes with a maximum of 6 students will be taught a host of culinary skills, from cooking the perfect cut of lamb, to baking the sweetest brioche and learning the tricky technical procedures of deboning a chicken and filleting a fish.

According to JP, the classes “promise to be both educational and fun, with a focus on the produce of the West of Ireland”. If you’ve ever wondered what the window pane effect is, or fancied learning the knack of kneading, then a bread baking class in The Firehouse Bakery, Delgany is for you.

Firehouse Bakery and Bread School owner, Patrick Ryan, has launched bread baking classes at his bakery in The Delgany in County Wicklow.  Patrick is an experbread having co-authored ‘Bread Revolution’ and appearing on BBC 2’s Big Bread Experiment. Since opening the bread school in Cork in June 2012, Patrick has been sharing his passion for baking with beginners and experts alike.

‘Our Delgany bakery has a beautiful, spacious open bakery and kitchen where all our breads and pastries are prepared each morning. It lends itself perfectly to our Bread School expansion.’ Patrick explained.

Patrick promises to accompany students beyond the limitations of bread books and take a hands on journey through the world of real bread.

Great fun, coffee, and banter are all part of the class and you’ll leave with a loaf or two under your arm!
